RE: Coachmen Cruise Master?

Of course someone who owns a Tiffin would bash your attempts, but take a good look at value which it appears you are doing moving away from a DP. People who own Coachmen seem to like them and contrary to some beliefs, they are not running down the road shedding parts and aren't turning away people at the service desk. :) ;) I believe that the UFO isn't being continued because the concept never grabbed the big crowd they anticipated away from the Freightliner market and manufacturers are trimming down lines to improve profits. I feel the same about the FRED when you can go to a DP for the same price or just a tad more. Good luck on whatever you pick, but looking at all brands is a good idea, especially right now. Bob Tiffin might answer the phone, but how much are you paying for Bob to be the receptionist? :) ;) That said, there is a thread currently running about the UFO chassis. Some of the owners have Monaco products. UFO.

RE: Windshield Wipers

Its difficult and expensive to secure wipers blades which exceed 30 inches. My Newmar KS had 31 inch blades and I simply replaced them with 29 inch, which can be found most anywhere. As a driver, you will not notice any loss of viewable area after the change. I had to modify the arm to use the 29 inch unit but it was a minor fix. I did that as well with blades from Walmart. I believe they were around 16$ each which was the blade and frame. :) ;)

RE: Tow Vehicle vs tow dolly

I've done both, and although I agree with the 4 down contingent, you already have a car. Easiest and cheapest fix right now is to get a tow dolly, use it until you replace the car, then get one you can tow flat. Make sure you getr electric brakes on the dolly, you should have excellent resale when you are finished with it. I've done both and I agree with that as well. A good used tow dolly with brakes will sell quickly, and replacing a good car just to tow 4 down doesn't make sense to me. :) ;) Congrats on the MH too. :) ;)

RE: Winterizing MH in Houston Area

Yep, that fridge icemaker line got me last year. :) ;) This year I'll pull the filter and let it drain. Otherwise, I just drain everything and pour some pink stuff or windshield washer fluid into the traps. Leave faucets open. Good luck, some of the best camping weather is still ahead of you. ;)

RE: How slow is unsafe?

don't use Texas as an example please. those fools drive down the shoulder. they have come up behind me and acted like they expected me to move my rig onto the shoulder so they could pass easier. yep, I'm going to move over $100 K of stuff onto the shoulder so their rusted out pickup truck could get by easier. I don't think so. bumpy If you are driving 10 or more MPH below the speed limit and holding up traffic you are subject to a ticket in Texas. So you and your 100K stuff have been advised. This is NOT a rumor. Ask my brother in law. :E ROFLMAO It is not mandatory, some people just do this as a courtesy. It is not a law. Thank you, Beth Hibbs, Executive Assistant I Texas Highway Patrol 512-424-2110 I think you keep believing that you are pulling a "gotcha" on me or something, like I don't know what the law says even though I posted it for you pages ago. That answer only implies that you are someone who refuses to be courteous because you are "special". You do know that anger management therapy is available for your condition, right? :) ;)

RE: Buying is for real on hold now...

Benntexas, it sounds like you have secured your future OK so this is an opportunity to buy and have fun. Some of the poor devils that waited from 2005 now can't get financing to save themselves even though they are a good credit risk. We thank ourselves that we took the plunge when we did in 2005. We're responsible people as are millions of others who refuse to let the risktaking of a few spoil our party. :) Lots of quotes going around, but my father always said that you can gauge a person's attitude on life by throwing a sack of gold at their head. The successful guy is the one who does something constructive with the gold instead of complaining that his head hurts. Unfortunately, he held onto that mantra and never did things he was capable of doing before his name was called. (See my profile). It's your choice to make the best of every opportunity. Take away from that what you will. :) ;)

RE: Boy!! Did I goof or what?

Towed a Saturn in "D" for 20 miles. No problems. I have also towed it with the emergency brake on for 20 miles. Brakes went to the floor when I started it, but after backing around the CG for a while, the self adjusters did their job. :) ;)

RE: Rate Your Motorhome - Compare It To Other Brands

I noticed you can take this survey over and over again. I hope the manufacturers don't raise their scores artificially by multiple vote entries??? You're right, so I rated mine AND everyone else's while I was in there. :) ;)

RE: KOA starting to require their CG's to conform

Sometimes it's not worth time or money driving all over to find a cheaper overnight. Because they are usually along the highway, my stays at KOA's have been passing through, and only once as my destination. I've not had any bad experiences and usually the prices for just staying overnight were in line with others. Back when my dad was a highway warrier, Holiday Inn was the place to stay. They sort of lost their consistency for a while, but I believe they changed and I find them to be pretty good hotels once again. Maybe that's KOA's idea as well. :) ;)

RE: class a safety chains? only 2500lbs each

Washington State Safety Chain Requirements - Minimum Strength. Couldn't find specs for state of Maine, but it looks like Washington would require the min. strength of each to be 5,000 lbs. for a Class III hitch.

RE: Car dollies

Hi Gouda, Are these guys in your area? Johnson Trailer. If you do go used, it takes $150 to redo the electric, straps and safety chains. I found the straps on Ebay, and bought the other things at a local big box retailer. Add $100 to that for new tires. I tow with a Roadmaster Towmaster that I bought very slightly used for $900, but it took me months to find it. Good luck :) ;)

RE: CG near Denton TX

Hickory Creek would be my vote as well. With a Federal Golden passport the overnight would be 8$ otherwise 16$. Being a Friday night I would make a reservation to be sure, and especially if you want a pullthrough. They have some but in limited numbers. Here is the Phone # 1.877.444.6777 Have a great trip. :) ;)

RE: class a safety chains? only 2500lbs each

The length of the chains is important as well. You can't have one shorter than the other and expect it to hold all the load unless it's rated to do so. :) ;)

RE: Tackling Frame Rust With POR-15

I've used POR-15 with great results. Sounds like you are on the right track. The direct sunlight did make the black finish a little milky, but I understand it doesn't affect it otherwise. :) ;) Good luck...
